Peer Support Awards 2024

The annual Peer Support Awards took place on Thursday, 25 April 2024. We cheered on our amazing Peer Mentors, PASS Leaders, and Student Coordinators who dedicate their time to supporting first-year students to settle into Manchester.

The Peer Support Team took centre stage in Whitworth Hall to award Outstanding Contributions Awards to individual students, as well as to Outstanding PASS and Peer Support Schemes.

Peer Support plays a crucial role for new students, providing guidance from higher-year students from the same course of study who have walked in their shoes, as well as giving students a chance to take on leadership roles.

Award winner Ayush Kumarfrom the Faculty of Science and Engineering (FSE) Foundation Studies Peer Mentoring Scheme said: I’m really grateful for the Academic Coordinators, my fellow Student Coordinators and the Peer Mentors who have helped us run this scheme for the first time. I was lucky enough to be nominated, and hopefully going into next year we can make more progress and boost the probability of Foundation Year students getting into first year.

We owe our success to the dedication of students. A massive thank you to all the Peer Support leaders and supporters for their fantastic work. Our dynamic Peer Support community consists of over 1,700 student volunteers and dedicated staff members.

Our student volunteers are the heartbeat of Peer Support, always going the extra mile to make our University feel like home.
