Becoming a Peer Mentor, PASS Leader or Student Coordinator is a great way to support fellow students, build your confidence and make a positive difference to the University community. Through these roles, you'll help create a welcoming and inclusive environment while developing valuable skills in leadership, communication, teamwork and problem-solving.
Your experience in Peer Support can support both your personal and professional development, providing excellent examples to include on your CV and discuss in applications and interviews. It can also contribute towards the Step Up and Lead aspect of the Stellify Award and the Developing my Skills theme within the new Stellify framework.
In recognition of your contribution, your involvement in Peer Support will be recorded on your Higher Education Achievement Report (HEAR), highlighting your commitment, leadership and impact beyond your academic studies.
Peer Support is made possible by the incredible commitment and contributions of our students and staff. To recognise and celebrate their achievements, we host the annual Peer Support Awards. Outstanding Contribution Awards are presented to individuals who have gone above and beyond in their roles, while Outstanding Scheme Awards recognise schemes that have demonstrated excellence, impact and a strong commitment to Peer Support throughout the year.
The annual Peer Support Awards are a highlight of the year, bringing together staff and students to celebrate the achievements and impact of Peer Support across the University. The evening provides an opportunity to recognise and thank Peer Mentors, PASS Leaders, Student Coordinators and staff for their invaluable contributions, while also showcasing the positive difference Peer Support makes to the student experience. Students share their experiences of being involved in Peer Support and the benefits it brings to their schemes and the wider University community, while special guest speakers offer their own insights and experiences, making the event an inspiring and memorable celebration for everyone involved.

Peer Mentoring and PASS can only function with the dedication and support of students and staff involved in the schemes. It is recognised that many Peer Mentors, PASS Leaders, Student Coordinators, Staff Coordinators and Administrators make exceptional voluntary contributions, far greater than expected in their roles. It is the commitment of these people that the Outstanding Contribution to Peer Support Award seeks to recognise.

In addition to these individual awards, we also recognise our schemes as a whole with a number of scheme awards. The Outstanding Scheme Awards are a series of five awards which aim to reward schemes in specific areas: Community, Collaboration, Innovator, Legacy, and Resilience.

All Staff Coordinators, Student Coordinators, PASS Leaders and Peer Mentors are invited to attend the Peer Support Awards. You'll receive an email when tickets become available. As much as we'd love to celebrate with everyone, venue capacity means we can't accommodate all of our fantastic students and staff, so tickets are allocated on a first come, first served basis.
