Rewards and recognition

The Stellify Award | HEAR

Being a Peer Mentor, PASS Leader, or Student Coordinator is an excellent way to fulfill the Step Up and Lead aspect of Stellify at The University of Manchester. Each of these roles involves guiding and supporting fellow students, fostering a sense of community, and promoting a positive learning environment. By taking on these responsibilities, you demonstrate essential leadership qualities such as communication, empathy, and teamwork. This hands-on experience not only helps your peers succeed but also contributes significantly to your personal and professional growth, making it a valuable addition to your CV.

Furthermore, your involvement with Peer Support will be recorded on your Higher Education Achievement Report (HEAR), highlighting your extracurricular accomplishments to future employers and academic institutions.

The Peer Support Awards

Peer Support can only happen with the incredible contributions of our students and staff! Therefore, we celebrate and recognise our individual students and schemes annually through our Peer Support Awards. Our Outstanding Contribution Awards are given to individuals who have gone above and beyond their roles, while our Outstanding Scheme Awards recognise Schemes that have demonstrated excellence throughout the year.

If you think your Leader, Mentor, Coordinator, or Scheme deserves one of these awards, please refer to the information below on how to nominate them.

The annual Peer Support Awards evening is always an enjoyable event for staff and students to meet and celebrate all the achievements made through Peer Support. The event is an excellent opportunity to recognise and reward Peer Mentors, PASS Leaders, Student Coordinators, and various staff for their valued voluntary contributions. Some of our students will speak about the benefits of being involved and the value of Peer Support within their schemes and the wider University. Additionally, there will be special speakers and guests in attendance to share their insights and experiences.

You can read about the 2024 Peer Support Awards here.

Outstanding Contribution Awards

Peer Mentoring and PASS can only function with the dedication and support of students and staff involved in the schemes. It is recognised that many Peer Mentors, PASS Leaders, Student Coordinators, Staff Coordinators and Administrators make exceptional voluntary contributions, far greater than expected in their roles. It is the commitment of these people that the Outstanding Contribution to Peer Support Award seeks to recognise.

Outstanding Scheme Awards

In addition to these individual awards, we also recognise our schemes as a whole with a number of scheme awards. The Outstanding Scheme Awards are a series of five awards which aim to reward schemes in specific areas: Community, Collaboration, Innovator, Legacy, and Resilience.

For more information about each type of Outstanding Scheme Award click here.

In order to assist everyone with their applications, regardless of the award they choose to go for, Peer Support has developed a guidance document to help students along with their application. Said guidance document can be accessed through here: Guidance Document

How do I get involved?

All Staff Coordinators, Student Coordinators, PASS Leaders and Peer Mentors are invited to the Peer Support Awards. You will receive an email when the event's tickets go live; unfortunately, we cannot host all of our amazing students and staff, so tickets are given on a first come, first served basis.
